I was lucky to know the Director of the Fat
Angelo's, Mr. Douglas Hsia. He is positioning the restaurant to attract more
younger sets. Fat family-style Italian American restaurant known
for their value-for-money, tasty food, friendly service and lively atmosphere.
Their large portions are the talk of the town and satisfy both single diners as
well as large groups of up to 30 people without having to resort to any
pre-arrangement.
Douglas ordered the above signature dishes for us. He shared the history of the Fat Angelo's. We thought Fat Angelo's was a chain imported from overseas but it was actually founded by an young American chef Andy Chworowsky who was based in Hong Kong 15 years ago. His ambition was to introduce the big American portions to the Hong Kong people which established Fat Angelo's fame so many years.
I lived in U.S. for many years before I moved back to the territory a few years ago. I miss the Thanksgiving meal there. Now that I have learned that Fat Angelo’s is the de facto official representation of the American festival Thanksgiving in Hong Kong. My friends and I would now get together here to enjoy an authentic Thanksgiving meal completed with stuffed roasted turkey, mash potato, apple pie.
